MAGIC TREE HOUSE ADVENTURE CLUB   Ages 6 - 8

Monday, August 10 - 14         9:00 am - noon

Instructor:  Marna Rossi        WAB Members and Lyric students:  $119      General Public:  %131

Take part in wonderful magic adventures from the Magic Tree House series.  Join Annie and Jack as they solve problems, help people and travel around the world and through time.  Through our exploration of the Magic Tree House Books, we might visit China, the Swiss Alps, or the Australian outback!  Like Annie and Jack, we will learn about the animals and people in each environment we visit.  We will read some of the stories and act out scenes.   We will even be inspired by a visit from the zoo mobile.   You will have a chance to try your hand at art activities and present a story skit for family and friends on the last day.

WORD ART AND ART WORD    Ages 6 - 8

Monday, Aug 17 - 21           9:00 am - Noon

Instructor:   Donna Marbach         WAB Members and Lyric Students $109      General Public  $121

Both artwork and literature tell stories, express feelings and share dreams.  Both are part of the world of books.  In this class we will explore ways in which words and artwork can work togbether.  We might illustrate a story r use pictures as prompts to help us write.  We will design collages that combine both words and art, use letters and words to make pictures and try out hand at concrete poetry (poetry that makes a picture).  If you like to doodle or draw and you like writing and playing with words, this is the class for you.

October is the month for ghouls and ghosties and things that go bump in the night.  It is also a great time for you wannabe “ghostly” writers to pick up your magic pens and cast a spell or two. With like-minded friends, we will spend a Saturday morning  of fun, fright, and writing prompts that will get your spooky words flowing!

Students will be invited to read some of their creepy creations at a special Halloween Party that will be held at Lyric Arts Academy.
